Here are some opinions I have.

1. Most folks on this board get way to riled up when we lose one game and way to excited when we win one. As Dickie V would say: a bunch of real Dow Jonesers. WE are never as bad as some folks think and as Chuck would have us believe when he gets worked up after a loss and we are never as good as BJahi thinks we are after a good win.

2. We have a deep solid team taht is not great. We do not have a single all American on the team and only one potential first team all conference player. Our seniors are all very one dimensional with holes in the other parts of their games (Smith, Hopkins, Bowen, Jabril) and none are NBA caliber players. Our frosh are versatile and athletic but still make many mistakes and all need a lot of work on team defensive principles. Other than DSR, there is not a single Big East caliber player who is a soph or junior. Both very weak classes. We are a very good college hoop team that should get 20+ wins with a tough schedule and have potential to do damage in the post season with some luck and focused effort. We are more than capable of making sweet 16 and winning BET champtionship despsite our flaws. However given the parity in the league and in college hoops generally, we can also lose on Thursday and opening weekend of NCAAs without it being a complete shock.

3. We lack a good expeirenced point guard (although I like the potential that Campbell has shown).

4. MOst of hte teams in our conference are of similar talent and there a lot of good young frosh in the Big East this year, not just our four. Top to bottom we probably have the toughest conference in America with the possible exception of the big 12. YOu have to work for every win..

5. So far with this team and given the inconsistent play of Josh Smith we have met expectations. If SMith ended up having a break out year, we probably should be doing better, but he has not. If Smith ended up injured or ineligible, we probably would be worse off, but he has helped us win some key games this year with his play.

6. Ultimately whether we finish 2nd or 5th in the BE regular season is going to mean little in April when we look back on the season. If we are not going to win the BE regular season title, then the entire key to our season will be from March 11 on. Our team will be, and probably should be measured on how it does at the BET in MSG and winning that tournament would be very big for us and making the sweet 16 would be even bigger.

7. Almost no matter what happens between now and April we are better off than Syracuse!!!

8. Recruiting is strong and we should remain in the top half of the Big East and a top 25 team for the next couple of years minimum. Despite losing 4 seasons, we have the potential to be just as good next year and perhaps even better.

9. Trey Mourning is obviously being redshirted. THere is no other explanation for why he does not play at all even when D. Allen and R. Williams get in the game.

10 We really could have used the Big Biblical Moses Abraham as a third post this season.
