offensively
iso on wing b2b for wideman. five out to 4 around 1 for elelman
offensively
baldwin will shoot and finish. not really a true pg
---stay attached to this guy. mosely/mulmore has his job cut out for him
measured fasbreak. watch out for trailer
---communicate
this martin guy:
martin will pull from anywhere, including on break
horns with martin popping out to get shot
deep handoff for martin
cross screens for martin
==switch or stay attached. don't fall asleep johnson/pickett. this is the guy that pushes the over the hump...he HAS to have a good day for them to win basically. sometimes double him on wings...always find him. i wouldn't help off him.
strong straight line driver. beat him to spot, wall off. make him turn. has to be a team effort
they will run horns to a big curling into lane using pindown for back cut
==hoyas bigs need to read that. if you switch it, double the butler big hard, to make him pass or take bad shot
they will screen to two man games with wideman and thompson
---take wideman out the play by doubling him...helping off thompson. if you play straight up, hoya big must wall off and play good position defense. wideman may try and move him/up and under. play straight up, make him score tough shot
four around one drop off to big. big will screen and pop out of it
---hoya big needs to be cognizant. make wideman prove he can shoot it. fowler, be more aggressive out of paint.
semi flat ball screen for baldwin, spread basically an iso
---if necessary, switch it, or zone it. if switched, go at baldwin hard. make him get rid of ball (though hoyas zone, not hard hedge)
real high spread screen and roll with big scoring at rim
==zone/hedge it. make the pass unavailable. (hoyas don't really hard hedge though)
defensively
sagging man/pack line is their base.
---move ball. play inside out...
they will certainly dig down on iso big action
--- means shooters will be more open. hit them. or make move before help can come. their bigs are not great, so press your advantage inside.
switching on 2 man with big ball screen actions
---if a big jumps out on mosely/pickett/johnson, attack his ass. or repost it, and punish the guard checking hoya big.
---attack guard from gw...he still sucks
---attack martin. he's not the best defender, but more importantly get him to expend energy. hopefully that impacts his offense
More
must pound the glass. they don't rebound well
of course tamp down turnovers. they make you make plays, but don't get carried away with it.
because they are a solid defensive position team...get easy buckets. breaks...early offense...stick backs.
