On Maui: We are very excited. It’s the premier, pre-conference tournament in the country. You get a chance and get a gauge to see where you are. The competition this year will be outstanding.
On playing in a tournament setting: You know you play Oregon in the first and who you might see in the second round. It’s good tournament preparation because it’s a quick turnaround. I think a lot it is that it helps the kid prepare for the BIG EAST Conference season and the NCAA Tournament.
On playing Oregon in South Korea: They just reload. The South Korea game was a unique experience. So much of that game was giving back to our servicemen.
On Oregon: They have weapons. There are going to be many people who can hurt you and you have to be ready for that.
On the BIG EAST: We’re going to be the best, if not the best, basketball conference in the country. We have a national champion in our league. This year, top to bottom, the BIG EAST will have quality teams.
On the ability to use different lineups in non-conference while also playing a strong schedule: You want to put yourself in a position where you can be tested. You don’t want every game so brutal that you can’t work on different lineups. Putting the schedule together is an inexact science. You just don’t know. Some groups will respond to adversity differently. Other teams will be demoralized by that.
