from recent butler game an 80-71 loss, with ponds seeming somewhat gimpy, though he still led them in minutes and points! . first observations, immediately followed by suggestions to attack it
man defense
....inside out, and swing ball. they are still a smaller team. get ball INSIDE. govan and leblanc and even carter need to do their work early. get position. if they get fronted or edged, repost. stay with it. when man is tight, look for backdoors
they push everything
...get back. every play. find ponds, as he's the competent trigger man.
outside of Ponds keying it, they seem to struggle getting shots.
...if no ponds, fall back on drivers. make them shooters...though the KC kids clark and trimble can put it up. with those cats, switch on screens. watch for pick and pop on a splits with clark.
with Ponds he seemed more cautious, more reserved. cheated on defense, just tried to sag and rest (off my guy thompson). picked offensive spots well. mae plays for others
...make him play defense. whoever he checks, drive/shoot. work him off ball with screens and contact. wall off physically. contact him.
switching on perimeter
...if they switch with bigs (which johnnies will do), immediately roll. or pop. govan should feast
will iso clark on swing passes. he can shoot
...help govan then. make sure if govan runs him off, somebody is behind him. communicate.
