...have to value ball vs provy's 2-3. have to not become perimeter focused. transition defense important. find a way to defend provy's 1-4 flat offensive set.

hayes

getting ball into paint vs provy (as x did)

I think we need to use our size to our advantage. They have very skilled offensive and defensive players, but I think we got them in the sixe department.

his role vs 1-4 offense provy set, featuring dunn

I just have to show a lot of help, whether I'm guarding bentil, Bullock, whomever I'm guarding honestly...Dunn is a very skilled offensive player; he can get to the rim, shoot, he creates a lot of stuff off the dribble

what do you see from benti?

he's also a great offensive player. leading scorer in the big east. he's more aggresssive looking for his shot, that's something we have to focus on.

With him and kris dunn, we have to stop them from scoring. if we can do that we should have a pretty successful game.

challenge of dunn?

i think he's an all around player...and his size helps him a lot. like i said he's got it on both ends.

empty possessions coming from provy, take advantage important?

very important...if we can capitalize off of their mistakes.

jt3

how do you guard their 1-4 set?

you just have to hope to get it out of his (dunn's) hands, and hope who he throws it to misses. i don't think there's anything tactical because he makes the right decisions; you cannot bother him.

is bullock emerging?

without a doubt ...they all (are). it's easy when you talk about them just to focus on the two leading scorers. but everyone else on their t4eam is good. And they're doing their part.

2-3 zone attack.

i think you just need movement. and you cannot get careless, because Kris Dunn covers so much area...any lazy passes get stolen...people movement and ball movement (necessary).

....they're zone, very differnet from Syracuse's zone but a very similar effect, they get you just passing on the perimeter. and then it gets very good. you have to find a way to get into the meat and hope you make the right decision.

surprised dunn came back

If you look at how trends are going...i would say i was very surprised that he came back...just says a lot about him and what he wanted to accomplish'...i'm assuming.

inside out attack important to punish smaller Friars?

one thing with that...they aren't that biggest, they aren't that deep, but they've bene playing like that all season...we have to mix it up.

copes

on checking bentil

just being physical with him...Giving him different looks

on bullock's emergence

i'm not surprised. i've seen him in hs a couple times, i knew he could be good when he was sitting out last year. he's aggressive, attacks mismatches. we have to be ready for that

2-3 offense aggressive but not blind passes

that's literally just what coach thompson was talking to us about; be sure of all your passes but also be aggressive; you can't be passive against their zone, because that's when they have time to get set. And they'll shoot the gaps.

we have to be aggressive, but careful at the same time

is their 1-4 offense hard to guard

it's hard for anybody to guard.. dunn's a very tough player. you have to be ready to help, but also close out to your man.
