I've been a Georgetown die-hard since 1984 when I found out I was accepted for the 1989 class. I've lived and breathed the blue and gray since then. I am actually one of the people that has donated to our basketball team. They weren't huge amounts but I have taken the time to send checks to the HHC. And I was happy to do so.
There was only one giant hiccup along the way. The last year of JT2's where he completely lost interest and the Esherick years made me nearly apathetic when it came to the Hoyas. It was an awful product on the court.
Then JTIII came in like a bolt of lightning and resurrected a program I thought might be done for good.
Then came this year. I was probably more high on this team than any in recent memory including Hibbert's senior year.
I'm not here to discuss the coach or the offense or the players. I just want to tell you people who are my Hoya buddies that I'm starting to slowly feel that apathy again.
As many of you know, I'm a long-standing GSW season ticket holder. Right now I am blessed to watch a beautiful brand of basketball night in and night out. And this is in stark contrast to my other team -- Georgetown.
What an awful, ugly brand of basketball we play. I don't know what the problem is because I'm not there every day. I don't know if it's coaching, the system, chemistry or the players. I don't know if we're snake bit.
But something isn't working (and hasn't been for years now) and things need to change. If any of us have any notions about next year's team which is standard fare for a Hoya fan, we are delusional. Our "star" is no lead player. And if I were him I would transfer out of here as fast as I could. Ike can be resurrected by being an incredibly athletic 4th or 5th option on a better team like Harrison Barnes on the Warriors. I could just see him on Louisville slashing around and throwing down putbacks regularly.
Anyways, I am no fair weather fan. But I am finding it difficult to watch our team just like that era I mentioned above. As it is right now, I have taped the recent games and if we win I watch and if we lose I don't. This is embarrassing to admit but it's the truth.
Well that's what I came here to say.
