offense

rodriguez leads them in scoring, doing so at all levels. will pull from anywhere. finishes well, particularly on break. pin down isos for him, also cross screens. generally in those situations, he's scoring not passing
---johnson and pickett can't lose this guy. in half court and breaks. he'll explode into action, so stay aware.

delgado is really the guy who makes them go:

he passes out the double well. he kills teams with his passing in general.
---maybe not double.
his passing destroys zones
---man a lot
will roll/slip and finish with jump hook. don't sleep, while pop for a 17 footer.
---govan and derrickson MUST defend this guy. if the hoyas have to double, he will kill them.
iso's regularly...including out of 3 out/2 in
---give him different looks...high side/regular post/front. he does his work on the floor so engage early.
bangs and rebounds
---again don't let him establish contact first...or more particularly understand he contacts, THEN makes his real bang. you have to go toe to toe with this guy. hence both cats have to battle delgado
is a good outlet passer
---box him out, hit the offensive glass.

carrington pushes tempo and finds. has become a much better shooter. lefty
---you can't let this guy shoot unmolested. in half court or full court.

defensively they have an aggressive man to man defense. and a more sagging one. will also throw match up zone out there.

summary:

it's an opportunity for the hoya frontcourt to show they can play against the best...read delgado. govan/derrickson have to make him defend, match his physicality, it's a war, and you have to battle.

the guards can't allow carrington to tip the scales. if mulmore want respect, earn it today.

desi r is gonna get his. make him defend...the hoyas must get something out of the wing.

maybe zone at times. but again make it one on one against govan/derrickson and delgado. keep him to 12 or so points, and you have a chance. make him defend, you have a chance. if he gets 20 you might be done.

initiate offense thru post. maybe high low it actually.

want to see more pick and pop for gtown bigs. i know ewing wants them to start in paint, and they DO get in love with jumpers, but to pull delgado away from rim, have them shoot.
