some inside into providence

got this from a well placed source

all was not gravy with Cooley and PC

so let's flash back to 19-20. friars were fairly hot. big year. then covid shut it down finished 19-12

prior to that year they made tourney 5 of 6 years

so year after covid friars went 13 and 13. Cooley was told afterward to make staff changes. he Refused. apparently Cooley is really loyal

next year hes coach of year, wins big east reg season, goes to tourney

this year tourney. and bounces

bottomline it wasn't all happy happy joy joy up there

hahaha

shrewsbury

ESPN claims he's being dialed down on

maybe, maybe not

could a guy with collegiate experience at butler and big 10 (4 years) and celts (6 years) plus d2/3 all as assistant help?

maybe

he's only been head since '21 season (psu). have to adress that, given the multi faceted nature of this rebuikd

yet have to respect going 14 17 to 22-13 incl like 4-1 to close reg season and then going 3-1 in big 10 tourney, losing in championship to conferences best team Purdue
with job at hand. as #10 Seed

makes some sense

ok so why could it not happen?

source confirmed a knawing suspicion shrewsbury could very well stay at psu and use gtown for more $$

as mack did 6 yrs ago. same for the usc coach

psu surely doesn't have gtowns present. yet Hoyas can't touch psus present

and tho they likely dont go all about for ball financially, surely psu's athketic pockets are deeper than Hoyas

counterpart is as a private school, Hoyas COULD pay alot more...how much will a tennis shoe company really subsidize him at psu?

this is interesting

I'm tracking down folks who know him now

If they get the coaching hire right, Georgetown will be the alpha dog in the Big East

when FoxSports1 signed the Big East Georgetown was the golden goose

obviously it didn't break that way

adhering to old guard ways has destroyed the program

but if we get this hire right and break free of the Thompson grasp (and JDG steps out of his own way), we can once again be the biggest program in the conference

we are in the best basketball recruiting hotbed in the country, have the best tradition in the conference and have the largest endowment by far

they HAVE to get this right:

Candidate mega thread

Let's talk candidates....

A list of those who've been mentioned for the job, or probably will be at some point

Rick Pitino- Iona HC
Ed Cooley- Providence HC
Micah Shrewsberry- Penn State HC
Darian Devries- Drake HC
Mike Brey- Former Notre Dame HC
Mike Jones- Virginia Tech AC
Matt Langel- Colgate HC
Porter Moser- Oklahoma HC

name that is being repeated alot

Capel at pitt

NC contacts are buzzing with this. thinking is hes struggled at pitt, had a good year this season. and hes going to struggle again

what better time to get 6 more years

and yes that's believed to be the duration (which makes sense considering the rebuilds duration

right now have no understanding if this is going on.

but the talk, particularly out of NC has been strong. coming from coaches and media fwiw
