2 of our biggest problems imho have been fairly consistent:
1 our offense is too reliant on the 3 point shot and we do not take sufficient advantage of getting the ball inside. I would not mind as much if more of our 3 or shots took place after the ball hit the paint but usually this does not happen and as a result the shots are more guarded and we are not in good position for offensive rebounds. Last night we were 6-21 from 3 with our starter at 2-13. We need to get the ball inside more
2 part of the reason we can't get the ball inside more of that our three best inside scoring threats are peak, Govan and Hayes and those guys are constantly in foul trouble. They jump at every shot and every fake and are constantly out of position. Peak reaches way way too much. Hayes seems like someone is paying him 1000 dollars for every blocked shot. These guys are way too valuable offensively to have so many stupid fouls. Hayes played 16 minutes last night and was one of our most effective offensive players in first half. A pattern has developed where Hayes gets at least 3 inside baskets off hooks and layups in the first 8 minutes and then gets completely limited in the next 32 because he is on the bench for most of them and we don't go back to him on the low block when he is in. Peak is our only true threat to drive the lane and finish in the paint. That will result in a charge every now and then but peak gets so many dumb defensive fouls that by the time he picks up his charge he is usually already in foul trouble.
To me these are fixable traits that could really help give us a better chance to win important games down the stretch.
