This year's team is very difficult to gauge. With the influx of key transfers, and talented returning players the future appears to be promising. The Hoyas have enough talent to be a very good basketball team, especially with their size, athleticism, and experience.
However, Georgetown basketball has underachieved in recent seasons, and JT III has been highly scrutinized for his team's performance. Why should this year be any different? Is JT III going to reinvent himself as a coach? Are the Hoyas going to develop a defensive first mentality or identity?
Many other questions remain, and I look forward to finding out the answers. JT III has to have a very good season to silence the critics, including myself. A Sweet 16 appearance or a deeper run in the NCAA tournament is a must this year, otherwise it is probably time for the Hoyas to reevaluate their coaching season.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, "DEFENSE" should be the mantra every practice, every meeting, and every game. Every team member, including coaches etc, should greet each other with Defense before every practice, and every player should see "DEFENSE" by their lockers in the practice facility. It is time to bring a more passionate approach to Georgetown basketball.
"DEFENSE,"
