Quarterfinals pt 1

Below is a look at several players from this year’s Nike Pro City Kenner League quarterfinal playoff round:

Premier 77 McClinton All Stars 75

Nate Britt – 6’2”, 175 pound guard, McClinton All Stars – Scored 22 points, where he drove and pulled up. Is still a savvy guard that generally makes the right play. Played internationally at Scotland’s Glascow last season, which he loved. UNC grad and national champion is headed to Panionio in Greece this season.

Rodney Bullock – 6’8”, 230 pound forward, McClinton All Stars – Former Providence standout scored four points, yet still competed on boards, defended and ran floor. An all BIG EAST caliber player last year, Bullock plans to suit up for Alba Fehervar in Hungary this season. Will arrive there August 27th.

Junior Eto – 6’7”, 230 pound forward, MCClinton All Stars – Eto did what he does, defending, running the floor and making good basketball plays. Has become stronger and competes. Dropped seven points. Headed to Turkey’s Sakaraya franchise, for which he leaves in less than a week.

Matt Lewis – 6’3”, 190 pound sophomore forward, James Madison, McClinton All Stars – Concluded his incredibly strong Pro City Kenner season with 31 points, scored at all levels. Is playing with a confidence that spoke to knowing he belongs with good players. Next up for Lewis should be becoming more of a defensive stopper.

Antwan Walker – 6’7”, 225 pound sophomore forward, Georgetown, Premier – Hustled during first half, including running the floor, rebounding and scoring in paint. Finished with 12 points. Didn’t work as hard in the second stanza.

Jared Bynum – 6’0”, 175 pound freshman guard, St. Joe’s, Premier – Continued to make a big impact in his second Pro City Kenner contest, passing, driving and shooting to 16 points. Showed he’s a strong left hand diver/finisher who is a right hand shooter. Defense must still be focused upon.

Micah Till – 6’7”, 250 pound junior forward, Slippery Rock, Premier – Had a solid all round performance, scoring from mid-range in and defending multiple positions. Expect a big year for Till in PSAC play. Has to play consistently hard.

Clydes 89 Higher Level 84

Josh LeBlanc – 6’6”, 230 pound freshman forward, Georgetown, Clydes – Seeming to round into shape after suffering from a high school season ending injury, LeBlanc logged 27 points. Ran the floor, finished, hit a spot up jumper, rebounded, finished. Looks like he can be a real impact as an energy defender who is tough and can shoot via spacing. Must work on his ball handling and movement shooting. Had a good, friendly trash talking battle with fellow Hoya rookie Grayson Carter.

Rodney Pryor – 6’4”, 200 pound wingman, Clydes – Former Hoya finished with 28 points, including a torrid first half stretch. Is still attempting to sign on for the Washington Wizard’s training camp. Must become a better defender for pro ball.

Roddy Peters – 6’3”, 200 pound guard, Clydes – Logged 12 points, playing both guard positions. Peters’ shooting has improved since his days at Suitland High School and the University of Maryland. A recent Nicolls State graduate who played NBA Summer League for New Orleans’ Pelicans, Peters noted of his sojourn from PG County phenom to novice pro player, “It’s was long, starting at Maryland and included injuries…I’m just grateful I didn’t quit. I’m putting everything together now”.

Grayson Carter – 6’9, 225 pound freshman guard, Georgetown, Higher Level – Scored 17 points, while having a nice battle with fellow Hoyas frosh Josh Leblanc. Scored a lot from three point land, is a good shooter. Still needs to battle and rebound more in the paint.

Akim Mitchell – 6’5”, 200 pound senior wingman, Hampton, Higher Level – A solid shooter out to three point land, Mitchell excels at slashing, finishing, defending and playing with energy. Competes at a high level. Has to be a better long distance shooter and perimeter shot creator. Looks like he will be a someone MEAC teams must account for.

Denmark Slay – 6’0”, 190 pound sophomore point guard, High Point, Higher Level – Finished his ’18 Pro City Kenner experience with 18 points, while doing nothing to tarnish his reputation as a performer that favorably impacts teams. As an opposing coach noted “He can play”. Must continue to believe in himself and his ability to do whatever is necessary for victory.
