This season at Georgetown was arguably one of the worst seasons that I can remember. It was especially difficult because of the level of talent on this year’s team. I was so disappointed with the Hoyas that I refused to attend any games or participate in any discussions about Georgetown basketball.

My support and criticism of JT III is well documented on this board. I believe JT III must improve as a Coach in order for Georgetown to maximize the potential of the current players. If the Hoyas play as poorly next year as they did this past season, it may be time for JT III to move on.

Next year’s team will be more experienced, and led by individuals that can greatly improve Georgetown basketball. With that said, JT III will have to increase his level of intensity on the basketball court, and adjust his philosophy on defense. JT III is a very good offensive coach, however Georgetown is synonymous with defense.

I recommend emulating the actions of Jay wright last year. Coach Wright spent time with Dick Bennet, and subsequently implemented some of Bennet’s defensive principles. Without question Villanova has greatly benefited from a change in their defensive philosophy.

Moving forward I believe the Hoyas will be significantly improved next year. The real question is can JT III maximize the talent of the current players. Georgetown has enough talent to compete with any team in the country. Developing team chemistry and improving on defense will be critical to Georgetown reaching their potential on the basketball court.
