I believe the Hoyas are again about where they were in the fall of 2019, a good team with an even brighter future. The circumstances are different but the current situation and prospects moving forward are similar.
This time, they have good veteran leadership that has helped them compete this season, some nice young talent (Wahab and Harris) that will return, are playing with much more urgency than in the past - both on defense and on the boards (maybe all that yelling by Patrick to "rebound" and "get back" is working ) and of course they have a talented class coming back in. Basically, like the fall of 2019, they are on the cusp of being a relevant good Big East team that can compete with anyone or almost anyone in the nation. They are not there yet. They still turn the ball over way too much and the offense they ran at the end of the X game showed that coaching needs to improve too. However, they are close again.
The key will be whether they can get over the hump. 18 months or so ago, they failed to do so. I know we all hope that this time things will be different.
