Couple of Options

As the season has progressed, Ewing seems to be more bullish on pressing. Versus Villanova he deployed that scheme, two iterations actually, which definitely impacted the Wildcats.

Playing small seemed to dovetail with Ewing's pressing, giving him a faster, more mobile player.

"I thought our press was great" opined Ewing, who did admit "two different kinds of presses. We did a hard press and a soft press"", the former being their diamond variety.


Don Does/Did It Again

Dropping a game high 24 points, securing four rebounds and dishing the same number of assists is clearly indicative of a successful outing, and Don Carey had one. Add leadership to what he provided, and there is no reason Ewing shouldn't have gushed about him.

"He's doing things I'm expecting him to" opined the coach. "He's playing the best ball for us that he possibly can. He's doing everything.

"Last year he wasn't a good defender. This year he's competing his butt off on the defensive end. And he's also making shots, making plays".
