I saw a photo of Coach Waheed in Sacramento visiting Capital Christian Post Tolu Jacobs (along with coaches for SDSU and Penn State). Do not know how serious the Hoyas are on him or if an offer was made. I have seen him play several times as my son attends that HS and I have coached against him and been at tournaments where he has played.
Jacobs has potential but has a long way to go. He is an import from Africa whose game I would compare to undeveloped Bradley Hayes/Roy Hibbert in HS//Cedric Izilein/Pascal Fluery type of guy. Has good size 6'10 and about 280, and decent defensive instincts, but is not super athletic and his basketball skills are raw at this stage, very raw.. He is strictly an inside player. He cannot guard on the perimeter and has no offensive perimeter game.
He is not yet ready to play at the high Division I level (or even be a star in high school). However, you can see that if he works hard he could develop. He may also not develop. Would be a risk for sure, and not someone I would put at the top of my list if I was a high major D1 coach, but perhaps someone to consider with an extra scholarship if you wanted to take a flyer on a kid who could develop at the back end of his college career.
illustrates the above.
