vs marquette, which they won 89-69 in queens
fairly aggressive man on perimeter
....don't let these cats get you going helter skelter. make extra psss on defense run it though govan in paint
like to have spread and high sets, there by opening up iso dives and alleys
...don't lose sight of ball and man
pace is fast off the five out offense. on ball reversal these cats like to drive
...communicate. stay in front of your man, and help from first pass. still, make sure you don't leave the skip wide open. make all others outside of ponds pull up. especially simon. play ponds straight up
they dig down on posts. get nearly 10 steals a game
ponds has total green light
...play him straight up...rotate defenders. he talks, so younger players don't let him talk you out your game. he's a load to deal with
keita loves to slip ball screens
...he doesn't really hide it well, so watch expect he will (can he really pop?) if you double the dribbler, do it hard, turn him and recover. hoyas unlikely do that...as they will soft shot/zone it or switch. just make the pass hard to the cutting keita.
b/c of size they swarm to defend the paint. will swim to a front
...SEAL THAT. get ball, hold high, and make move or pass.
they push hard in transition
...get back. communicate. floor balance is important, and should be easier with the small johnnie lineup.
they like to post guards
....a problem for hoyas' smaller guys. simon is a beast with that. stay honest with hit, and make him work. if you can dig in, do so. force him to shoot, which he can't.
ponds is not a great defender
....attack him. break them down, and create.
