tim krueger of bluejaybanter answered a few questions on this ep of jay ball

1) Has the offensive development of Mahoney, Bishop & even Marcus Z made the Jays more formidable?

"Well Z is one of the best point guards in the country so that hasn't changed. Mahoney carried this team for a good chunk of the early season. He was hitting shots at all levels and was knocking down free throws. But the last 5 games he has struggled mightily. Hence CU has struggled a bit'.

2) Is this version of packline defense strong enough to propel thr jays to championship day in the big east tourney? Big dance?

"I wouldn't refer to it as packline line defense. It's been straight up man to man with a hard hedge on high ball screens. Bishops ability to do this and then recover is key. Plus Coach Mac always plays % and will double or slack off a guy who hasn't been a shot maker. Sometimes this back fires and guys have career nights. But Creighton's defense is greatly improved. Because of that they have been able to win rock fights with UConn and Providence, games in the past the may have lost".

3) Who is this year's unsung/overlooked guy?

"Not sure this guy is overlooked but to fans who haven't seen much of Creighton he's been a huge part of their success. Freshman center Ryan Kalkbrenner. He's a 7 footer who can run the floor. Top 100 recruit out of St Louis. Unreal awareness and touch around the rim. Plus gives them something they didn't have last year-- a shot blocker. Can really protect the rim. If he bulks up and puts on a few pounds next year he will be one of the top bigs in the league. He's a slam dunk for BE all freshman team".
