Questions;
1) what kind of defense do they favor?
2) why can't they get traction...seemingly losing games they should win?
3) is ollie safe job wise?
4) they have a lot of scorers, but not shooters per se. has that been a problem?
5) talk about losing brima (sp?)
6) they spread you out and go. do teams get overwhelmed by that?
Answers
1) The Huskies prefer to play man-to-man but have been using the zone to mix it up a little bit lately. With 7-foot center Amida Brimah out they have been much more susceptible to penetration but perimeter defense remains strong.
2) Brimah's injury is definitely a factor but the other one is that we are a little crowded at the guard and still trying to figure out our best combination. Ollie just inserted freshman point guard Jalen Adams into the starting lineup for Rodney Purvis and it has produced mixed results.
3) Absolutely. There has been some fan backlash on Twitter and in message boards, but I don't think there is any reason to doubt his job security.
4) Definitely. It leads to some rough shooting nights and, like you pointed out, some puzzling losses which could have been avoided. Right now offensive production is suffering from Daniel Hamilton, a do-everything sophomore, being on a bit of a cold streak.
5) Brimah is one of the best defenders in the country due to his shot-blocking prowess. Losing that absolutely hurts. Offensively, the Huskies have appeared more focused on moving the ball around and finding good shots, but still too many people are forcing the issue. Brimah wasn't great offensively so it's not a huge loss on that end of the floor, but he was at least capable on the offensive boards, which is valuable.
6) Less talented or less athletic teams do, yes. It can definitely lead to some runs, but these days a lot of teams are doing that so I think they're pretty prepared.
