Very sorry to keep harping on this but I'm so confused and disappointed about this whole situation.
I doubt we'd even be talking about this considering our lack of talent had not Ewing on several occasions admitted that he disregards analytics. One would also have to assume that the cupboard is bare in terms of the data he has available to him.

look at al the schools using Shot Tracker -- Big East Schools, Blue Bloods, mid-majors --- notice one school conspicuously missing? Yep!
and if you remember the transfer of Isaac Copeland he specifically said they showed him the graphs of where he is effective and he was amazed at the info. This is Shot Tracker. And you'll see the red Nebraska "N" rolling by on the ticker as a school that uses it
here is an article from Michigan St talking about a system their analytics guy created: MSU Analytics
to me the fact that Ewing repeatedly says he disregards analytics and goes with his gut is absolutely insane. Part of being a coach is empowering others and changing with the times. If he insists on going old school (which in a way is understandable), he will limit his ability to succeed. It's like playing Texas Hold 'Em with one hole card. Sure you can win every once in a while but you have severely diminished your ability to do so.
I don't mean to harp on this because I knew and understood we'd suck this year. That said, his lineups are bordering on idiotic. Any basic analytic could teach him this.
I don't want the guy to get fired or fail. I want him to acknowledge that what he is doing is not working and he needs help. To me that shows his strength as a coach. I think everyone is just relying on this 2021 class to change everything. Why wouldn't you do everything in your power to put those kids in the best position to succeed?
I would have so much more respect (added to the considerable respect I already have of him due to his humility and loyalty and just basically being a good guy) if he could just say something like "yeah, the lineups we are trotting out there don't seem to be working. I'm going to dive into analytics and see if we can help get some clarity on what we have here". But my issue is that he just doesn't believe in them or isn't willing to change.
And the only issue why this whole scenario came up is because what he's doing doesn't pass the eye test and he doesn't use analytics which is just mind-boggling in 2021.
