@ cap1
them offensively
they run a nice open set, with struss using multiple screens...basically just running guys through them.
struss can pull from anywhere
struss will go baseline and finish
---lock and trail this guy. stay attached. go over screen with the big showing hard. can't do that zoning it, as he ill pull up.
pick and roll, then forward pops up from baseline as a secondary look...multiple action in pick and roll
---i would go under screen on pick and roll with the point guard, then recover. but just play solid. they are not dynamic at pick and roll
cain breaks off offense and goes for his
---this sounds crazy, but i would almost invite that. he's not that good. regardless, understand what he is...an x factor who will shoot at any point, but is not that good.
four around 1 with big inside (maric)
---play solid. no need to double that. not at first initially
--- pack lane, force them into threes (not struss) they shoot like 31% from three. noboby but struss and maybe the rookie reed can really hurt you there. reed is a long shooter who is driving more.
mccalum plays hard. as hell. rebounds well, finished. hits a few jumpers. can get frustrated.
---derrickson, then pickett, or even johnson, have to match this guy. box him out. he's a hand full
them defensively
sometimes plays a 2 3 zone...has matchup properties.
---move ball inside and out. they almost overreact . make them move, shots are there.
will ice screens
---quickly reverse/skip ball out of the ice (down), weaskside should get you good looks
man to man is their main set. has multiple feed in paint weakside
---like vs their zone...go inside out. multiple passes defeat these guys. easily.
in man, will swtich screens sometimes
---get the mismatch and attack. particularly with the bigs
2 2 1 zone press. they will try and trap at half court, but it's more to slow you down and capitalize on your mistakes.
---just be strong with ball, bring a big up to catch, turn and pass to wings. shouldn't be a problem if you stay frosty and move ball
-- push the ball. they lose folks, especially shooters, in transition
