okay, obviously biggest game of the season. without a doubt.

cuse is not really that good...BUT they are physical. worries me. they are big. worries me. and the team preparing for that 2-3 worries me.

points to look for when orange are offending (hahaha)

1) they like pindowns, even simultaneous pindowns along lane to conflict defenses

2) the backcourt of howard and battle will try and bully you.

3) likes to set up high, then lob the baseline

4) not a great outside shooting team. attack is predicated on driving the lane, where they finish, drop off, or kick out

5) they of course push the ball in transition...which they do

how to stop them offending (im corny, i know hahah)

1) communicate. stay attached on pin downs. don't relax. when off ball remain in center field stance. don't go to sleep. show toughness fighting thru. if you get clipped, maybe the big shows, but get back in position.

2) stay in front of these guys. they aren't crafty cats. they bully you. howard really only wants to go right. sets up left, always goes right. take it away. he's MUCH more hesitant going left. rarely if every rejects screens.

he and batlle are straight line, blow buy guys. when in the lane they really want to score not really creators per se. play them for that.

3) when they are lifting you off that baseline...be aware of the wing sneaking in. keep him in front of you. communicate.

4) sag in lane, and then get back out to shooters. make them make plays.

5) get back in transition. make it a priority.

points to look for when cuse is defending

1) in that 2-3 matchup...they narrow the guards up top to defend entry) and range the wings up to foul line in meeting those players. for moments it can even look like a 4-1. hahah

2) they are long...this is a syracuse team that fits the scheme. they choke passing lanes off with that.

3) have some tough players...sidibe, brissett...who are big! they also hit the glass fairly well. and defend the rim

points to look for when attacking zone

1) obviously key from middle...where THEN you can attack in varied ways...middle shot, high low, lobs, inside out, short corner. don't forget to screen the zone and maybe get a 2 on 1 to the corner. maybe sticking pickett in that ball side corner would be good.

2) patience is key...and strength with the ball, as hands will be swiping. body ad people movement...and the timing to take advantage of them...is necessary.

3) play tough. ewing suggested it's the fight in the dog that's important. got at them and don't get bullied. and rebound the damn ball. need my guy derrickson to clean glass. box out. battle. govan too of course, but derrickson and somebody else has to battle inside.

i asked about pickett doing so, and ewing expects him to.

also, speed the game up via pace. and that includes pressing. form what i saw, cuse doesn't really have ball handlers in their starting lineup. take advantage of that for not only easy offense, but to speed the game up. .
