ok, if styles make fights, this one worries me.
why?
georgia state is a high octane, shoot within 10 seconds, space and go off the bounce, multiple green light, fast break team.
the hoyas have struggled to get back, guard the perimeter, play defense, not commit turnoversremain disciplined all season.
gleaned from ga state at duke. was a great game until like the first tv timeout of the 2nd half. and if the point guard of duke didn't carry them, things could have been different.
1) they pick up full court man all over the floor
.....Hoyas must NOT cough it up, or get into one one one battle
2) they push all the time
....get back on damn defense. EVERY play. no live ball turnovers.
3) go five out alot, will back cut.
...communicate. help MUST get there, which it hasn't
4) High pick and roll for pg, who mostly tries to score. he will hit jones the rookie as a roller. or kick to open shooters.
...i would try hedging. but really drop coverage, and veer if guard gets too far downhill, too fast. can't oversuck though. they will find guys.
5) multiple cats get into the lane, mostly off iso drives
....guard your damn man. you know they are driving. help but not everyone...they will find guys. i would say zone, but hoyas don't do that.
6) they shoot quick shots. shot in under 10 seconds normally
....get back, pay attention. don't get drawn into that game, they are too fast imo. pound the middle with yurts. they have no answer. remain disciplined in doing so.
7) multiple green light guys...off iso and pull ups.
....stat alert and attached. dont think a guy outside of jones the rookie and maybe one other are non scorers. make them shoot over length, and help (but not oversuck)
8) williams and allen are hard left guys
...force right. if possible also ice them
9) though they like to man, do have a 1 2 2 type matchup zone.
...regadless of defense, get ball into yurts. let him trigger/score. drift and lift accordingly, based on him. even pick and pop him. he should get EASY shot off that. .
