Micah Peavy

Ron,

A couple of questions about Micah from your watching practice

What are you seeing from a leadership perspective from Micah? Does he appear to be the leader of this team as expected or is someone else carrying that mantle? Is he being forced into it as the oldest player or does he appear ready to assume the role? Is he leading with words and actions? Or just words? Or just actions?

Defensively, do you see him setting a tone and a standard for performance for the team? Is there any evidence that you have seen that his defensive leadership is rubbing off on the others? I know the staff is focused on defense but can you see any leadership support coming from the players?

Thanks in advance.

Jordan Burks

Ron,

You are one of the few who has actually watched practice and have some first person assessments about things.

What are you seeking from Burks? He is an interesting prospect. He was only a three star, but he had year getting developed at one of the blue-est of blue bloods. He has great size and athleticism. He appears to have been a big scorer in high school. Meanwhile, he had a recent interview in which he reported taking more pride in shutting down someone defensively than scoring.

I am sure he is adjusting to the new situation and the new teammates.

Are you seeing glimpses of that scoring ability? How about on the defensive side? Can he lock players down? Is he practicing as a big against Fielder and Sorber? How mismatched does he look? Does he appear part of the center of the team or is he hanging on on the margins?

Does the team look like it is going to expect big contributions from him? To what extent does he appear ready to make those contributions?

Thanks in advance.

ran into him at a va elite practice

pros
his leadership is solid
he's grown a bit
is long, mid-range in skilled.
willing passer
good generalist with tools.

cons
needs to tighten that hendle
needs to get that extra third dribble in attacking tin
probably could show more take-over penchant.

i think this is a big year for him.

on recruiting, as noted before he really liked the va tech visit. not saying they are leading or anything, but he is curious about more than just hoyas and michigan state, the first two suitors.

do i think he goes to gtown? he could, but hearing it's an uphill battle.

will post interview upon upload.

OT Wizards

Hired TJ Sorrentine as an assistant coach. TJ spent about 15 years as lead assistant at Brown. I have known him for about 8 years, ever since he recruited one of my players. Very good guy and very good coach. I am sure he will do well at the NBA level and of course us Gtown fans will always love TJ for what he did to Cuse when he played at Vermont.
