Fielder

Ron and LBC, I think all 3 of us have been clear that Fielder has a lot of work to do (especially defensively) so I’m asking you guys specifically (but others obviously feel free to chime in). To me, he’s looked better, more relaxed and smarter past few games especially last night. Do you see that too or is it just wishful thinking on my part? Of course it could be partially the level of opponent but he wasn’t looking like this in earlier games against similar opponents. Also wondering if he’s looking different in practice. Julius going down could be a blessing in disguise to Fielder who may get more chances with Julius out but has to rise to the occasion too.

Skill Development?

Ron,

We have three players who have proven that they can make a three-pointer in a game. 29 of 34 three-pointers made have been made by Epps, Peavy, or Mack.

Can you tell us more about the skill development resources the team has available? Are there experts on staff to help the players refine their shooting skills, or is this just a skill it is assumed everyone has by the time they enter college? It sure seems like we have need for a 'shot Dr.' If that resource is on staff, who is it? I am not necessarily saying the form looks bad, but the results, or lack thereof, speak for themselves. Players not named Epps, Peavy, or Mack are shooting 12% collectively from behind the three point line.

Also, do the coaches have expectations of the players for outside work? What are those expectations (e.g. make 500 three pointers a day, every day)?

Thanks.

My post game thoughts

Sorber is as advertised. Very impressed. Starters overall looked good offensively except they took some ill advised shots and 3 pt shooting was poor.
Bench - Yikes, We do not look very deep at all.
Defense - did not look good or much improved. Guys in poor weakside and help position and sometimes sliding when they did not have to. Needs a lot of improvement.
McDonough - need more games there. Atmosphere looked so much better than downtown for OOC game.
Overall a mixed bag.
