whats the story on this grosselle guy?
1. Geoff Groselle is a 5th year senior who has been bothered by injuries his whole career. He finally got healthy at the end of last season and is playing his best basketball now. He's a 7 footer and shooting a ridiculous 75% from the field. Good for 2nd in the nation.
how important is watson to the cu offensive attack?
2. Creighton's offense relies heavily on Maurice Watson to create, especially in transition. Creighton is just not the same team when he is not on the floor. He has an amazing ability of getting to the basket and finishing especially for a 5'10" ( which is generous) point guard.
is the pack line defense good this year?
3. It's hard for me to say that this Creighton team is doing anything well on defense right now. Especially after allowing Villanova to shoot 68% from the field. Creighton's opponents have scored over 70 points the last 5 games.
how are the jays getting transfers?
4. Both Maurice Watson Jr. and Cole Huff came to Creighton to play in a higher level conference. They both want to reach the next level and came to Creighton to help get them more exposure. With the graduation of Creighton point guard Austin Chatman, Watson knew he would start and run the team from day one. Huff and his AAU coach Clint Parks came to Creighton and fell in love with the campus and facilities. They also saw Creighton as a better opportunity for playing time than other schools they were interested in since Creighton graduated 5 seniors last year.
is the bench producing?
5. Creighton's bench is a factor, it has been shortened a little by the injury to freshman Martin Krampelj. Creighton is still trying to find a guy who can give Watson a break at the point guard spot but that search has been unsuccessful. Three of Creighton's most experienced players Junior Zach Hanson, Sophmore Toby Hegner and Senior James Milliken all come off the bench and bring totally different skill sets to the floor. Hanson is Groselle's backup at the center spot and Milliken and Hegner come in to score. Milliken and Hegner do most of their damage from the 3-point line.
