There have been certainly a number of disappointments, most notably our inability to win close games against teams not name St. Johns. However, the truth is we are one or two possessions away from being 16-5 with wins v. Xavier, Butler and Syracuse. Our freshman are developing nicely in Blair and Pickett. Soph guard Mosley, despite the major gaffe this weekend, appears to be developing into a solid Big East player. Both of our big men are sniffing for some level of all conference (not first team but still two of the better bigs in the league) and are not ready for NBA so there is a likelihood of return for each. Recruiting looks solid and picking up McClung was a huge coup. While it remains to be seen whether he can truly be a star at the college level, he adds an air of excitement and attention to the program that is likely to help with attendance, overall program awareness, and help attract other recruits. I would be much happier, if we could have one at least one of the X, Butler and Cuse games, and it is not easy to be patient, but overall the direction the team and program is going is positive to me.
