Villanova and Defense

Villanova help establish how important defense is in college hoops. Their run through this tournament was triggered on defense, which was a big reason for their great shooting percentage. A team with athletic players (Hart, Bridges, Booth) who play aggressive defense, with strong communication, and who rotate as a team can bring down the best of teams to reality. Of all the things about Nova this year, what impressed me the most is the consistency of their defense. This is something our teams had in the 80s (IMO JTJr. was not a great offensive coach) and I hope that our defense is markedly improved next year because I think that is a big key in us getting back in the mix.
